Excellent quaility - excellent price

Comfort Seats C1B1E-17CH Designer Solid Wood Toilet Seat with PVD Chrome Hinges, Elongated, Oak (Tools & Home Improvement)
Turns your toilet into a throne!

You won't confuse this product with the lightweight and poorly finished "cheapos" that sell for $20 - $30 in most stores. I've had them in the past and they do not hold up....either the hinges turn green from fluids and chemical cleaners and or the wood splits where the segments are glued together.

I did not want to go cheap again and was willing to pay over $120 for a brand name marketed by the manufacturer of the toilet. This looked so good in the pictures and the price was right with free shipping.......so I gave it a shot. This is not a "cheapo" It is heavy......solid oak is heavy.....and the individual oak boards comprising it were well matched and mated by well machined, glued tongue and groove joints rather than glued butt joints which are more liable to splitting. Instead of a thin lacquer spray these seats have a heavy plastic sprayed mirror finish.

You can tell that the 15" wide seat is comprised of (3 or so) seperate boards but I would be wary of one that wasn't because a solid one contiguous piece of oak more that 15" wide would be at a premium and too costly for toilet seat manufacturing. There is no evidence of exposed wood grain which is well embedded within the piano finish coat. The seat not only looks high quality, it is.....and that goes for the hinge construction and finish .......instead of two isolated anchors which function as the hinges and which is depicted in the photo, the seat I received uses a more expensive and stable crossbar system through the two anchors to hold the seat and lid hinges in alignment....it uses well designed polymer bumpers which dampen the dropped lid impact and are not as likely to rot out like the molder rubber ones or split like the hard plastic ones on the cheapo seats. The plastic logo on the lid finishes it off to a classy appearance. Also it easy to clean properly and there's no chance of getting a splinter where it would really be difficult for one to remove unassisted!

I was so pleased that I ordered more for my other bathrooms.
